Today all the little darlings in the area are heading back to school.

For some reason they are only required to be there for one half day on the first day. Then, the next day there is not school. Then they have the weekend off. Then, finally, on Monday they have a full day and regular schedule.

What brainless twit decided to ruin a perfectly good last week of vacation with a half day of school on a Thursday? Are they that messed up running things that they need an entire day to fix all the first day’s problems that arise? This is crazy poor management. No wonder our education system is going in the toilet.

When I need to buy a gift, I have to admit that I no longer go to the mall or local stores to buy anything that has to be wrapped and shipped. I would rather just order the gift online and have it delivered right to the recipient. It usually only costs a few dollars for the shipment from their fulfilment center, as they get a bulk rate from the shippers.

I found that I can also save online by searching for an online coupon before checking out with the items in my shopping cart. Almost all online sellers have a place to enter a special code – just have to search for a discount code online and in less than a minute or two you can save a lot of money.

We are still waiting on word from the so-called experts about whether it is safe to go in the Gulf waters on the Florida Panhandle beaches. The Destin, Fort Walton and Pensacola beaches really took a hit from no tourism this summer plus the ecological damage that has been done.

If the health and safety officials declare the water safe at some point this summer, I still have doubts that they can be believed. I don’t think i want to take the risk of contamination until more time has gone by.

Around here, the best hamburgers at a fast food place has been a chain of burger places out of Memphis: Backyard Burgers. Their burgers are made from Angus beef, are formed thick and juicy, and are grilled instead of fried. The basic burger comes with a leaf or two of romaine lettuce, a slice of fresh tomato, a couple slices of purple onion, and a couple of pickle chips. They have specialty burgers with other options, such as a variety of cheeses and types of sauces. I like their seasoned fries but they also offer waffle cut fries and their milk shakes are made with real Breyers ice cream. This is great food, ya’ll, and at a fair price.

The car will cost way too much to repair after this last fiasco. I’m going to list it on Craiglsit as a parts car and see if I can salvage a few hundred dollars from it. Surely someone will pony up $300 or $400 dollars for car – the tires are worth over $200 just by themselves.
